Volunteer Drivers Needed
We are in need of drivers to take seniors shopping, run errands and to medical appointments. Reimbursement for mileage is paid by the COA for medical trips within Crawford County. Reimbursement for shopping trips or medical trips outside Crawford County need to be negotiated with the rider.
Home Delivered Meals (Meals-on-Wheels) Drivers Needed
The Commission on Aging is in need of drivers who can deliver meals to homebound seniors. Drivers are needed Monday thru Friday 10:45am - 1:00pm. You pick the day! Reimbursement for mileage is paid by the COA.
Foster Grandparents
If you are 60 years or older, have 20 hours a week to volunteer and your income is below $12,250 (single individual) or $16,500 (couple) per year, you qualify to be a Foster Grandparent. These seniors spend time with children in various settings providing one-on-one attention. You will receive a stipend of $2.65 per hour and reimbursement for travel costs. Senior Companions
If you are 60 years or older, have 20 hours a week to volunteer and your income is below $12,250 (single individual) or $16,500 (couple) per year, you qualify to be a Senior Companion. These volunteers visit with seniors who need someone to spend time with them. You will receive a stipend of $2.65 per hour and reimbursement for travel costs. RSVP
There are many opportunities for seniors in Northern Michigan to volunteer. RSVP helps place senior volunteers into places that are in need of help. If you are interested contact the RSVP Coordinator at (989) 275-1717. RSVP can give you a list of places looking for volunteers and help match your skills and likes to a place that can really use your help!
Home Delivered Meals
If you would like to help out with the Meals-on-Wheels program, but are unable to drive around, here is a great opportunity for you. We are in need of someone to ride with the Dial-A-Ride route twice a month and test the temperature of the food. If you are interested call (989) 348-7123.
TRIAD
The TRIAD group - which is comprised of Seniors, the COA, and the Crawford County Law Enforcement & Emergency Management - works together to help prevent victimization of seniors.
