  • Rules, Terms and Conditions for Participants

I will abide by the following rules, terms and conditions:
    1. The Community Garden Leadership Members are the highest governing authority of the Community Garden Friends organization although many decisions will be made by consensus by the organization as a whole.
    2. Food grown in the Community Food Donation plots will be distributed to Crawford County community agencies.
    3. I must plant within two (2) weeks of receiving notification that planting season has begun or my plot will be forfeited. I agree to tend my plot on a weekly basis and will notify the garden leadership if I cannot do so. I will not expand my plot without permission. I will not let my garden grow into paths or other plots. I will try to keep my plot free of weeds, pests and diseases. I will keep my plot, paths and surrounding areas clean and neat. I will place green garden waste (dead plants, weeds, etc) in the designated area. I will take any trash generated home. If the plot is not attended to in a 3 week period, a member of the Community Garden Leadership will reach out to determine the status. If there is no response, the plot will be assumed abandoned and the Leadership will take over the plot or reassign it. Rights to anything grown in the plot will be forfeit.
    4. I will work to ensure my gardening practices are in support of the health of the soil, water and wildlife in the garden and surrounding area. I will reach out to the Community Garden Leadership Committee with questions when I want to improve my gardening practices to better support natural resources.
    5. I will not plant any illegal plant or marijuana. I will not smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, use illegal drugs or gamble in the Community Garden. I will not come to the Community Garden under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. I will not bring weapons to the Community Garden. I will not bring pets or other animals to the Community Garden. I will be considerate of others when playing music.
    6. Guest and visitors, including children, may enter the Community Garden only if I accompany them. They must follow all rules, terms and conditions stated here. I will supervise my children at all times when they are in the garden. I am solely responsible for the behavior of my guests.
    7. I will participate in the general, shared maintenance of the Community Garden as assigned.
    8. I will not enter other gardener’s plots without the permission of the plot owner nor will I take items from other gardeners’ plots or from the Community plot.
    9. I will respect other gardeners by not using abusive or profane language which may offend or discriminate against others.
    10. I will work to keep the garden a happy, secure and enjoyable place where all participants can garden and socialize peacefully in a neighborly manner.
    11. I forfeit my right to sue the owner of the property or any organizations involved.

    15. Masks are not necessary when you are working in the garden as long as you maintain a distance of 6 feet between yourself and your fellow gardeners.  If you cannot maintain social distance then a mask is required.  This includes congregating at picnic tables, benches, and wash stations.
