The Grayling Community Garden is open to all residents of Crawford County regardless of age.
The garden is located at the corner of Madsen and Mary Ann Streets, made available courtesy of the Carl W. Borchers Post Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) #3736, and the Seator Family. The garden is sponsored by the local VFW, the Crawford County Commission on Aging, Michigan State University Extension, Crawford County Christian Help Center, and Huron Pines.
The garden season typically runs from early May through late October. Individual plots are available for individuals and groups on a first-come, first-served basis, for a fee of $25 per plot. Sign-ups occur in the spring, with priority given to returning gardeners, until all plots are filled. Plot fee waivers are available upon request. Plots will vary in size depending on the amount of interest and space. Perks include 8′ deer fence, automatic sprinklers, and organic fertilizer. The Grayling Community Garden is always seeking volunteers to help with garden projects and tending community plots. Community plots are used to grow food to share with the community, distributed by local nonprofit organizations to help feed individuals and families in Crawford County.
If you are interested in volunteering or reserving a plot, registration is required. Please click here (https://www.crawfordcoa.org/special-programs/grayling-community-garden-registration) for the online registration form.
